Not too long ago, a number of of my posts have used dwelling brew chokes and baluns. I’ve been testing them on a number of completely different bands at 100w. Since they’ve been working good, I made a decision to start out posting about them. At present, we’ll go over the 1:1 choke for 2m and 6m.

4 conductors are required. For this undertaking, 18 awg wire rated at 600v was used. Often, I take advantage of 2 colours, a lightweight coloration and darkish coloration. 4 colours are used on this publish, so it’s simpler to see all sides of the 1:1 choke.

The toroid used, is a T130-0. Put the wire via the toroid and safe it with a plastic tie.

Wrap the wires across the toroid 6 instances and safe the top with one other plastic tie.

After the primary set of wires is secured, place the second set of wires with the sunshine coloration on the left and the darkish coloration on the fitting. Safe with a plastic tie.

Wrap the wires across the toroid 6 instances. Safe the ends with a plastic tie. Gown the wires and get them as neat as potential.

Twist the sunshine colours collectively and the darkish colours collectively. The choke is now able to be linked.

Pictured above is a 1:1 choke with a SO-239 and a pair of:1 Balun.
